Unum Investigations, LLC is an elite and highly specialized boutique private investigations practice focused on cultivating a limited amount of strong client partnerships, and providing that select clientele with truly custom solutions and individualized attention. “Unum” is Latin, signifying “one,” expressing my one-on-one commitment to a very select clientele.

My name is Mitchel J. Hoffman, proud owner of Unum Investigations. I work directly with my clients and intentionally have no employees or lesser experienced "field investigators" that I utilize. I will also never delegate your important matters out to other investigative subcontractors unless this has been transparently discussed and mutually agreed upon in advance.

I offer a variety of private investigation services for matters involving infidelity cases, workers' compensation and disability cases, family and domestic disputes, and much more. You can always trust Unum to provide a personalized one-on-one approach to each case with complete transparency. Meet Mitchel J. Hoffman, MS, CFE - Private Investigator

I am highly experienced and educated in the investigative industry and am extremely passionate about my work in private investigation.

Over a span of more than 20 years in both the private and public sectors, I have conducted thousands of private investigations on the behalf of international insurance carriers, top-tier law firms, Fortune 500 corporations, government agencies, and high-net-worth individuals encompassing both criminal and civil related matters. I have been employed by global investigative companies in the private sector with yearly revenues exceeding hundreds of millions of dollars.

I have been involved with public and private sector investigations in several states, including New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts along with Wyoming and Colorado. These investigations (and related interviews and interrogations) have consisted of sensitive and intricate matters involving workers’ compensation and disability, a multitude of delicate corporate internally focused matters, liability investigations, theft/fraud occurrences, domestic violence related situations, complex drug investigations and interviews, cultivation and usage of informants, and undercover work. I have also participated in countless court and administrative hearings pertaining to these investigations.

I have served active duty in the United States Air Force (USAF) in both Military Police/Security Forces and Air Force Office of Special Investigations roles. Along with graduating first in my class of the USAF Security Forces/Military Police Academy, my military roles consisted of the completion of multiple expert-led formal interrogation and investigative related courses. I completed my active-duty time in the military with an honorable discharge.

I also have two separate graduate degrees: a Master of Science in Criminal Justice Administration and a Master of Arts in History. I also possess a Litigation Paralegal Certificate and have also obtained the highly coveted investigative industry related Certified Fraud Examiner designation. I have most recently earned the honor of becoming a board certified Professional Certified Investigator, obtained via an extremely rigorous and lengthy selection, testing, and review process. Completing my Certified Forensic Interviewer designation, and also earning a separate certificate in Employee Relations and Investigations from Cornell University are both further achievements that I am proud of.

I am also licensed, insured, and bonded in all three states that I operate in.
